Eugene Somenkov, another winner of Futures Trade, uses simple and available, yet effective schemes in his trading. He shared his exemplary history in the interview.

-Eugene, tell us about yourself: how long have you been trading in the financial markets, where did you begin?

-For about 10 years, with different periods of activity. Then again I started from different kind of contests.  

-What place does the trading take in your life? Is it just a hobby or a serious source of income?

-For the last 5-6 years, I actually did nothing except for Forex. Thanks to it, I have rather decent extra income but not on a quite regular basis.

-What do you like about Grand Capital’s contest? What can be improved, in your opinion?

-I like stability, informational content, excellent display of ratings. But I advise reconsidering the system of rewards for trial contests.

-What do you take notice of, when you pick your broker? And why did you choose Grand Capital?

-Tell us about your trading strategy within the scope of contest. Does it differ from the one you stick to, while trading on a live account?

-As people tell in Odessa, a competition and reality are two big differences.

-You manually opened up more than 200 warrants as part of the round and only 2 were unprofitable. What do you base yourself on, when you make trading decisions?

-The number of warrants does not affect the result. It is only a matter of habit.

-Why did you choose the contest with the futures trading system? What strategy would you name the most successful?

-For me, there is no difference in what to trade. I sell everything that moves. The strategy is: buy cheaper, sell at a higher price. This algorithm is drilled into the spinal cord.

-What is your advice for those, who are only going to take part in the contest?

-Regardless of the type and duration of the contest, you should have some strategy and algorithm of actions in your mind. And, of course, I wish good luck to all new traders! It will come for sure.

How popular is Forex in Algeria?

I wouldn't say that Forex trading is really popular in Algeria, but it's been changing recently as I now see people on the street, in cafes and public transport with Platform 4 launched on their smartphones. I remember, when I was just starting, it was three years ago, I couldn't even find anyone except my brother to take about Forex with. You've been participating in GC contests for a year now. However, this is your first victory. Why do you think you won this time?

I think that it is my experience and intuition. Experience plays a major role in trading, I think. I feel how much my level of professionalism has risen since when I just started.

Tell us about your trading strategy. 

After Brexit I've only been trading GBPJPY because of the pair's high volatility. I'm  scalping by using support and resistance on 30min chart.

How did you learn trading on the first place? What books / courses or other resources do you use for studying now?

I finished trading courses in a brokerage company when I was just starting, then it was only self-learning by trial and error. I don’t use any resources for studying at the moment because I have my own strategy, which is based on my experience.

You have been participating in Grand Capital contests for 5 years now but it's your first victory. Why do you think you succeeded now? 

I managed to win this time because it all work out well: luck, experience and strategy. Moreover, there are favorable conditions for trading Forex in Russia now. 

What is the most important thing for you when choosing a broker and why did you choose Grand Capital?

Can you tell us about your trading strategy? How does it work?

I chose scalping strategy for the competition (fast orders with a large volume). I've known this strategy for a while now, learnt it from various books on technical analysis. I chose yen currency pairs because recently it's been the most volatile.  I think it’s the perfect choice for a one-day competition.

What would you whish to those participants who hasn’t won yet?

I would wish them to overcome emotions and greed as these two are the main enemies of any trader. Keep changing your strategy until it starts to bring you profit, and don’t even think of giving up! And, of course, good luck to everyone!
