CAC40 is an important French stock index, represents the financial health of 40 major companies, one of the major indicators of the state of the European stock market. The index includes shares traded on Euronext Paris. The list of companies included in the CAC 40 index is updated quarterly. Large market capitalization is an important selection criterion. The index value is updated every 30 seconds on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:30 CET (UTC +1).
The CAC 40 index includes stocks of companies across various economic sectors: oil industry, pharmaceuticals, customer goods, insurance, finance, electronics, construction and others. Among them are industry giants such as France Télécom, L'Oréal, Alcatel-Lucent, Renault, BNP Paribas, etc. The combined market capitalization of these companies is above 1 trillion euros.
Along with the BEL 20, PSI-20, and AEX, the CAC 40 index accurately reflects the macroeconomic situation in Western Europe.
